New JAVMA Technical Tutorial video on ROM assessment for equine distal limb joints
The Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association (JAVMA) uniquely publishes Technical Tutorial Videos that provide narrated, practical tutorials on techniques, tools, methodologies, or approaches in any area of veterinary medicine. These short (~5 min) videos are a great learning resource and can be found here: https://avmajournals.avma.org/page/Technical_Tutorial_Videos
My colleagues from the University of Tennessee and I have recently published a JAVMA Technical Tutorial Video that outlines range of motion (ROM) assessment for equine distal limb joints. The video covers subjective and objective ROM assessment techniques and guidelines that can be used by practitioners, as well as horse owners to assess and monitor joint ROM. The video (also below), abstract and transcript can be found here: https://doi.org/10.2460/javma.25.12.0878
Assessing distal limb joint ROM is an essential component of clinical orthopaedic examination and physiotherapeutic assessment for equine patients. Objective techniques for assessing joint ROM are especially important for clinical decision-making and for objectively monitoring treatment response.
Does your veterinary physiotherapist employ these subjective and objective joint ROM assessment techniques to inform your horse’s physiotherapeutic treatment?
